Hootenanny at the Sandy River Delta!

June 29, 2014, by Courtney Yilk

Saturday, July 19th, from 4-8 pm

Pack a picnic dinner, spend the evening exploring the restoration and art projects that are part of rehabilitating this unique habitat, enjoy live music and poetry, and bring your own Sandy River stories!

From 4-6 pm join Delta partners from the Sandy River Basin Watershed Council, Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, and Confluence Project on an interpretive hike highlighting the science and art of environmental restoration. Meet in the parking lot.

From 6-8 pm, enjoy live bluegrass with Mountain Honey and Columbia River poetry from Scott Poole, House poet for OPB's Live Wire!

The Sandy River Basin Watershed Council will be collecting oral histories to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Sandy River's record 1964 "Christmas Flood". Come prepared to record your memories of the event, and share any written or photographic records.

Additional Sandy River Delta partners in restoration will be on hand to share projects and plans for the Delta. Partners include the US Forest Service, Friends of the Sandy River Delta, Oregon Equestrian Trails, Friends of Trees, and Hootenanny sponsors, East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District.

* Plan to walk ½ mile from the parking lot to Hootenanny/picnic area. Hike and Hootenanny will be approx. 3 miles.

To get there from I-84: Take exit 18 and follow signs to the Sandy River Delta Park.

For more information, please call Courtney Yilk, Confluence Outreach Coordinator, 360-693-0123, or email.
