Hosted by the PSU Native American Student and Community Center (NASCC).
In collaboration with the Indigenous Traditional and Ecological Knowledge (ITEC) program, we’re proud to share the teachings of many Indigenous plants as well as their uses in this conference style event.
The Native American Student and Community Center (NASCC) Programming Team consists of one Senior Program Coordinator and two to three students. Two of the student positions are ELSA awards and the other is a programming assistant position. This team meets weekly and works together to plan programs centering Native American, Alaska Native, Pacific Islander, and other Indigenous community voices. Throughout the academic year, this team meets with multiple people from other PSU internal departments and with external community organizations to build robust programs that are student-centered and support student’s retention. Student’s gain valuable skills such as designing programs, conducting outreach to Indigenous communities, learning how to work within a small budget, facilitate and emcee events, negotiate speaker honorariums and decide on preparing food or selecting a minority-owned caterer.
