Awards for Waterfront Excellence
December 9, 2009
Each year The Waterfront Center recognizes projects from across the globe for their contributions to waterfront development excellence. This year, Confluence Project garnered the Center's highest awards at The Waterfront Center's 27th Annual International Conference, held in Seattle. The Waterfront Center, a nonprofit educational organization, was developed to assist communities and the professions in making the wisest and best long-term uses of public waterfront resources for maximum public benefit.
The 2009 Top Honor Award went to Confluence Project for its three completed projects—Cape Disappointment, Sandy River Delta, and the Vancouver Land Bridge—and for its education outreach program, Confluence in the Schools. Executive Director Jane Jacobsen received the Waterfront Center's Clearwater Award—an award that recognizes an individual's outstanding achievements. Confluence Project staff had worked hard to keep this a secret from Jane until her name was called. Ever inclusive, Jane accepted this award with delighted surprise, on the condition that staff and collaborators of Confluence Project join her in receiving the award.
We are thrilled and grateful for the recognition we received in this highly regarded international competition. Top honors goes a long way to celebrate all the hard work, artistic excellence, collaboration and enthusiasm poured into each component of the Confluence Project.
