JourneyBook is a study guide designed to enhance the visitor experience at each of the Confluence Project sites where artwork by Maya Lin will reside. Composed of seven chapters (one for each site), each will include a photo study of Maya Lin's artwork, a short history of the site, a central topic or issue about the area and a series of experience-based activities designed to enhance critical thinking skills and motivate future action.
Planned for distribution to schools throughout the region, JourneyBook will be a valuable resource for teaching Northwest history, the story of Lewis and Clark, natural history, the arts, ecology and other related subjects. It will also be available for use by families and tourists who visit the sites.
JourneyBook will help students and visitors understand Maya Lin's artwork within its local and regional contexts, in addition to raising issues critical to each community where the sites are located. Its most important goal is to inspire students and visitors to make a difference in sustaining our cultural and environmental resources.
